– Vaz Mohankumar (A2-Level Maths Grade A)

“I only had Anish as a tutor for 2 years, those being my A level years and found he was an excellent tutor who offered good support as well as instilling discipline”

  (A2-Level Maths Grade B)

“I have found Anish’s tuition very useful and helpful. As a result of his tuition I have made good progress in A level maths and achieved grade A”

–  (A2-Level Maths Grade A)

“Great help. Went through all the topics in the A- level maths syllabus a number of times and this helped to boost my understanding and confidence in answering questions. Anish helped me to achieve an A in maths, after achieving a B in core 1 (before I started the tuition lessons)”

– Avneet Bahra (A2-Level Maths Grade A)

“I have been tutored by Anish in maths since year 9 and he has helped me consistently achieve high grades and hit my target of an A* at A2 level Maths. He is very clear and efficient in teaching the subject and his own extensive knowledge ensures I can ask him almost any question. Anish also encourages us to develop our knowledge beyond the curriculum so that we are more able to apply it in our exams as well as enjoying a better understanding of the subject. He always sets useful homework tasks to consolidate our learning and although it is hard work to complete, the time is well spent. I have no hesitation at recommending Anish to anyone to start as soon as possible to get the full benefit of his support.”

 – Dev Parekh (A2-Level Maths Grade A*)

“I attended Direct Tuition throughout my GCSEs and A-Levels. Having the extra support from Direct Tuition definitely enabled me to perform above and beyond my original expectations. The best form of revision for my Maths A-Level was pages and pages of practice and attending Direct Tuition played a big role in making sure I had a thorough understanding in terms of knowledge but also prepared me to tackle a range of questions. Attending sessions in small groups proved useful as on many occasions we could share and discuss past paper questions and solve any problems.”

Group Sessions

The group sessions usually contain around four or five pupils per class, this allows the tutor to focus on every individual student and provide each student with the best possible environment in which to learn. The numbers in a group session can rise to a maximum of 8 but with the ideal number being around four or five it is best to spread out the students evenly to provide the best possible chance to get the most out of the sessions.

Resources

Throughout the year the students will be given homework based on the content they were taught in the sessions and are expected to complete the homework for the following week. Once it gets to the final stages of the terms and exams start to loom, students are given more exam type questions for them to practice to ensure they are fully prepared for what is to come in the exams.

Equipment

The equipment required will be the standard, a workbook, pens, pencils and other usual equipment necessary for studying Mathematics for example, calculators, compass, protractor and 30cm ruler. This is all to ensure you have the best chance to learn quickly and effectively each lesson and feel that every lesson you attend is rewarding.

Intensive revision courses

We also offer an intensive revision course, these take place a few days before the exams and consist of one whole day spent going through Exam style questions with a sharp focus on answering the questions in a way that will attain the most marks. Furthermore, these sessions work at a fast pace and allow students to revise a whole syllabus in just one day, but in a way that each student is confident they have covered everything they required.

Recorded classes to aid revision

We also offer recorded classes so that students who were not able to attend classes or simply wanted to go over a particular subject again can revisit the videos and go through the topics giving them the best chance to understand the work before going into the exam period.

Daily exam papers

Direct Tuition offers daily exam papers for students, allowing them the best possible chance to cover everything before going into the exam, from the style of questions to a range of different content that could crop up. These allow students to get into the right frame of mind for exams and the more experience students can have of completing these the more confidence is built going into the exam.

Course Structure

The course is taught over 30 sessions throughout the year, each 90 minutes in duration. The course is tailored for the AQA and Edexcel syllabus. The course is still beneficial for OCR and MEI students.

During the first part (Lesson 1-Lesson 18) of the course we teach new content to students before they learn it at their school/college to give students an advantage over their peers.

The second part (Lesson 19-Lesson 30) we work on exam preparation. This means we go through exam questions and what they are asking you to do and how they are worded. This is the area that most students struggle with which is why we allocate almost half of the course for exam preparation.
